Type: Ripe Pu-erh (fermented)
Grade: 1-3
Production area: Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province

Taste characteristics:
Since its creation in 1976, ripe pu-erh has gained popularity among pu-erh enthusiasts as a tea that can be drunk daily. One of the reasons for its appeal is that ripe pu-erh undergoes a true fermentation process, resulting in a tea that is neither acidic nor bitter. However, achieving a well-fermented ripe pu-erh requires the expertise of a skilled and experienced tea master.

Denong Tea Company has produced such a tea in this particular aged ripe pu-erh, which is available in a collector's edition of a 2-kg bricks. The tea offers a combination of woody, herbaceous and sweet flavors. After two decades of aging, this tea has developed an incredibly clean and smooth profile with a sweet and enduring finish that lingers on the palate.

very usual ripe, but smooth 10/08/2025
By Rand Camden
i made sure to brew this a few times a few different ways before making any conclusion, but now i have made it

this tea is of course not bad at all, there is nothing unpleasant about it, and the flavor that it does have is very nice, very smooth, very even

but it is very flat, and for me has only the usual ripe earth flavor and that is all. i don't get any hints subtle (maybe with a stretch of imagination, but not worth mentioning) or otherwise of the jam or wine that others have mentioned, and that's too bad because i bought this just to experience a different ripe profile.

my search continues for not overwhelmingly priced ripe puerh that has a surprise for me. i know i will find you soon

however i would say this tea is most adequate. i will be drinking it happily when i am enjoying the mood i'm in and do not want it to change

Our responseThank you for your thoughtful and honest review of this tea. I am sure it will be helpful for future buyers. We appreciate you taking the time to write about this tea.

I have tried both the ripe and the raw. I like the raw best - more subtle tastes. Thank you so much for sharing with these delicious teas with the rest of the world!
Our responseThank you so much for your kind review. The raw and ripe pu-erh each offers different flavor and mouthfeel. Glad you tried both.
