Needle thin leaves that brew to an emerald-green hue, this high-grade Japanese Sencha is round, incredibly savory and comfortably bittersweet. We sourced this tea directly from Tea Shop Horaido, which has 219 years of history.

In Japan, brewed Sencha leaves are made into "Sencha salad." Add soy sauce, sesame oil and dried shaved bonito flakes to the used tea leaves, mix and enjoy. You will not only enjoy a delicious "tea salad," you will also consume all the nutritious ingredients the tea has to offer.

BREWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Put two heaping teaspoons (about 5g) of leaves into a small teapot. Cool boiling water down to about 175º F (70ºC) and pour into teapot just 1 or 2 mm over the level of the tea leaves. Wait (about 30-40 seconds) until leaves expand over the water surface, then serve into small tea cups.
