Gaiwan - Blue and White Landscape

Gaiwan - Lotus Blossoms Design

Gaiwans are comprised of a tea vessel, lid and saucer. Tea connoisseurs often brew the tea right in the gaiwan, although it may also be used conventionally as a tea cup with the lid serving the dual function of keeping the tea warm and to block the tea leaves during consumption. This gaiwan is decorated with lotus blossom designs with blue pigment and accents of red and green. Gaiwans are used to brew tea in the traditional style of the Chinese Gongfu (Kungfu) Tea Ceremoney. This is a larger gaiwan that is approximately 3 5/8" wide x 3.5" tall and holds up to 5.8 ounces of tea to lid level. Perfect size when brewing for more than one person.
