"The Art of Tea" Classes at Pasadena City College
In ancient times in China, tea was considered the “Elixir of Life” and was used to pay tributes to the emperor. Tea is not only a healthy beverage, it is a form of meditation, a form of community, and a form of self-realization. This course takes students back in time to the origin of tea and how it evolved through history. The six categories of teas were discussed with an emphasis on Pu-erh tea. Considered to be the “drinkable antique,” Pu-erh can be aged like wine. Lastly, students have the opportunity to participate in a Chinese Gongfu tea ceremony demonstration.

Attendees of this event were treated to tasting some of Bana's best selling Pu-erh teas. Bana owner Linda Louie brewed and served the teas in the Museum courtyard while answering questions about Puerh. The Bana Pu-erh teas lent added hospitality to the current exhibit; China Modern: Designing Popular Culture 1910-1970.
