She sampled countless cups of teas, stayed with families who have been tea farmers for generations and walked through many ancient tea gardens. "The Art of Tea" Classes at Pasadena City College
In ancient times in China, tea was considered the “Elixir of Life” and was used to pay tributes to the emperor.  Tea is not only a healthy beverage, it is a form of meditation, a form of community, and a form of self-realization. This course takes students back in time to the origin of tea and how it evolved through history. The six categories of teas were discussed with an emphasis on Pu-erh tea. Considered to be the “drinkable antique,” Pu-erh can be aged like wine. Lastly, students have the opportunity to participate in a Chinese Gongfu tea ceremony demonstration.

Class presenter:  Linda Louie
