Will start drinking tea08/30/2025 ByAna Martinez I am not a tea drinker but after tasting these, I will definitely start. The tea kit I ended up getting was the one for the Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane and so far tasted two: 1. Bana Mini Tuo Cha Ripe Pu’er (2 little tea cakes) 2. Little BingDao Raw Pu’er. They were wonderful! Our group was fortunate to have Lisa See participate in our book club discussion of her book. The tea kit definitely contributed to the ambiance! Several of the group have already ordered tea from Bana! Thank You! Our responseWow! Thank you for telling me your book club tea tasting event has converted several people to drinking pu-erh tea. Many people say pu-erh tea is an acquired taste. I tend to disagree because if the tea is of good quality, the drinker will love it right away and there is nothing to "acquire."

The tea was delicious and our hostess set a beautiful table. BEST: She invited Lisa See to join us by Zoom. We loved meeting Lisa, hearing about her writing process and congratulating her for such a wonderful book while sipping your delicious teas. It was an amazing afternoon. The Best! Book Group Samples Lady Tan's Tea New Jersey07/16/2025 ByM. B. Both the pu-erh tea and the jasmine tea in the lovely little Chinese brocade bag were excellent. My book group was thrilled to taste the teas and relate them to Lady Tan's Circle of Women. Most preferred the pu-erh brew but I thought the genuine jasmine tea was also extraordinary. Both were fragrant and delicious and highlighted the exquisite care given to tea in the period described in the book. Now, if only we could tour the wedding bed! Amazing Jasmine Tea04/10/2025 ByMarla Boley We sampled these teas with my book club after we discussed the book Lady Tan's Circle of Women with author Lisa See. The jasmine tea was the favorite and much better than other jasmine teas we've had. The other tea was more earthy and still good, but just not amazing like the jasmine tea. It smelled like jasmine blossoms. I don't usually drink loose tea, but this was worth it.
One thing I would like to note, I determined the tea was ready when I smelled the jasmine fragrance and it was delicious. But other ladies thought it looked weak (light) and needed to steep longer, so I recommend using smell not color to determine when the jasmine tea is ready. Our responseYou are absolutely right! We cannot judge a tea's readiness by its color because different teas are processed differently, some are dark and others are light. Jasmine tea's base tea is a green tea, thus the lighter color.

The jasmine tea was incredibly fragrant and soothing, and the mandarin pureh was a delight (my favorite!). We paired the tea with what we dubbed a "concubine" dried fruit and nuts tray and a sampling of dumplings from a local dim sum restaurant. Highly recommend! The two teas were very different in taste and appearance and provided a good opportunity for further discussion on both the tea and the book.
