Original Aroma from Wild—thin wrapper edition* (2001 Vintage)
(Yuanye Xiang)

Weight:  357 gram cake or 50 grams loose or 100 grams loose
Type: Raw Pu-erh (naturally fermented)
Production Area:  Mensa Mountain, Mengla County Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province

This 2001 tea cake was reviewed and highly recommended by Pu-erh Teapot Magazine published in Taiwan.  This tea brews initially with a gamboge color and has a sweet honey aroma and taste. After the 5th brew, the tea turns burnt orange in color and a bouquet emerges of date, ginseng and longan (dragon eye fruit) flavors. The most attractive and distinct characteristic of this tea is its long lasting aftertaste. The sensation and flavors of the tea lingered for so long that I did not want to drink or eat anything else for quite some time. This tea was described in the Pu-erh Teapot Magazine as “one of the important collections in your Pu-erh collection.”

*There are two editions of the Original Aroma from the Wild—a thin wrapper (dry storage) and a thick wrapper (wet storage). The cake we offer has been aged in a pure dry storage environment and is the thin wrapper edition.

Customers have made these comments about Original Aroma from Wild:

"Original Aroma from Wild" is the only style tea that delivered what I describe as a "museuline" or darker and stronger tea…I like dark brews with a definite identifiable taste." -- anon.
